Drunk Razorbacks

A long time ago people turned their hogs out in the fall of the year after all the crops were harvested. They lived well in the winter off acorns from oak trees. They were razorbacks, the next thing to a feral hog. They were wild and would run at the sight of a human. My granddaddy said when you castrated a pig, you needed to be close to a tree to climb when you finished because even a little pig would get up wanting to hurt somebody. Daddy said a big heard of hogs came by an unattended whiskey still of his and they ate up all of his sour mash (corn that had been used in the whiskey making process) that they could hold. He said that there were drunk hogs everywhere. Most were too drunk to run away. He said they were acting like drunk men, some were fighting, some passed out in the road and had to be dragged to the side. After that, they came by everyday ate some mash, but not enough to get drunk on. They were the fattest hogs in the woods when Spring came. There was one that never left. He got drunk everyday and went to sleep next to the boiler. Daddy said, that  hog never grew another inch and finally died.
